BT awards Swedish telecoms group Ericsson the second major contract to supply kit for its 5G network

BT has awarded a Swedish telecoms group the second major contract to supply kit for its 5G network, as it faces a ban on working with China’s Huawei. 

The telecoms giant said Ericsson would supply equipment used in masts and other radio devices in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff and other major UK cities. 

BT awarded the main contract to Finnish telecoms supplier Nokia.
