CATBEAR (Formerly Cat Bear Tree) are the product of a DIY live music scene in London. Growing up on the fruits of the UK’s vibrant punk, rock and indie scene nurtured a love for live performance.
Skip to adult years, Zoe (vocals, guitar, synths, production) & Sarah (drums, vocal) are supporting Mike Skinner and The Tuts on the stages that built their love for live music. The band went on to releasing the assured, indie-pop flavoured second EP ‘Settled In Our Hearts’, in the midst of putting on their own shows across London, featuring performances from peers Skinny Girl Diet, Skies and Nova Twins. The duo went on to rave reviews from Q Magazine, Louder Than War, Gigslutz and were supported supported on 6 Music, while the live shows continued to roll in.
“It’s a really exciting time to be making music alongside a new generation of artists who feel they can be open about who they are and express that creatively, which is so important for people who may not fit in to traditionally mainstream roles.”
The latest output from the punk-ethos duo is the outstanding Beast Of The Night. Fans of Robyn, M83 and Shura will be in for a treat, as Zoe crafts melodic synth lines and an analogue style pop flair.
“Beast Of The Night is the come down from the afterparty.. A reflection on the hedonistic party life. Musings on the the love/hate relationship of late city night-life. “
